Greetings

Allow me first to express my gratitude for inviting me on your Commencement Exercises. I can still remember the time when I graduated and finished my college degree. I am sure that you will approve that this is perhaps one of the most memorable stages of your academic life. This term may be fast, but this is where you will gain academic consciousness and awareness on the things that happen around you. This is the period of social discovery, where you will be more engaged and involved in the society and in your community. I am a father of 5 children and I look forward for the time when my children walk on stage to accept their academic diplomas. However, this is not the end of your travels, the next question is, what will you do next?

Your school instilled in you the ideals of a 21st century Filipino, competent and resilient. They are expecting you to continue your academic journey, as they believe that knowledge never stops here, and never will. There are still plenty of lessons to be learned and experiences to feel. We must be brave to face this chapter or we will suffer the consequences of stagnation.

As a growing country there is high demand for young and middle aged professionals because the sectors are growing in magnificent scales. If we don’t have the right talents to make these things afloat it might stop, and the government and all the industries are working together to prevent this from happening.

We have the duty to become active nation-builders. It is not enough that we sustain this degree of education; we must move on and enter the realms of the professional world to know our true expertise and specializations. We yearn to create citizens that will be active in the affairs of the country. No one can solve and overcome our challenges than ourselves and sadly, our generation is already entering its final chapter, we cannot do this alone and forever we need young blood to carry on with our efforts and even exceed what we have achieved.

This is now your time. Do not waste this opportunity for we will no longer visit the same road. I am certain that some of you are already eager to work while some would like to continue in the graduate level. Always remember that our government, your parents and teachers are here to help you. If you want to climb the ladders of success, let us know and we will find ways for you to go on top. Gone are the wayward days, it is time for us to excel.

I challenge you to answer to a higher call we are partners here. You are not alone. We will be here to support your way as you carve your own future and destiny as great Filipinos of tomorrow.

On behalf of the Department of Energy, congratulations and I look forward on your future successes.

Thank you very much at mabuhay tayong lahat!
