CARLOS JERICHO “ICOT” L. PETILLA

Carlos Jericho “Icot” Petilla is a Senatorial candidate under the Daang Matuwid Coalition (Liberal Party) of President Benigno S. Aquino III. He served as a Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines from 2012 to 2015. He also served as the governor of the Province of Leyte from 2004 to 2012 before joining the cabinet of the current administration.

Prior to his entry into the public service, he was actively involved in a private corporation, which he co-founded and has now grown into a 25-year old company with over 4,000 employees. This company is engaged in business process outsourcing and knowledge process outsourcing with geographic reach in the Philippines, USA, Canada and Europe.

He is a graduate of Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University. After graduating in college, he briefly taught Information Technology and Computer Programming in Ateneo and thereafter worked as Consultant/Programmer in various multinational IT companies.

Born and raised in the province of Leyte, he comes from a family of public servants. He is the son of former Leyte governor Leopoldo E. Petilla and incumbent Palo Mayor Remedios L. Petilla. His brother Dominic L. Petilla is incumbent governor of Leyte.

He is married to a Cebuana, Ms. Frances Anne Basillo-Petilla and they are blessed with five children.
